Embrapa Beef Cattle, throughout its history, has provided significant technical contributions in the breeding area, thanks to the efforts of his team of researchers and the realization of strategic partnerships.
Along with the Brazilian Association of Zebu Breeders, pioneered genetic evaluations in Brazil, having launched the first bulls assessment work in 1984, the traditional prototype "summary of bulls", today consecrated technology along the production chain.
With Geneplus Agricultural Consulting, through the so-called Geneplus-Embrapa Program has been providing creators since 1996, more detailed information of their flocks, adding enhancements over time, not only in terms of methodology, as well as in dissemination strategies technology.
Until 1999, had been published in printed form, 51 summaries of bulls by the Agreement ABCZ / Embrapa, having been involved 65,976 animals, six thousand on average per year. With the support of Geneplus-Embrapa Program, these summaries now have, since then, with electronic editions on CD-ROM.
From 2010, the genetic evaluation summaries of bulls, dies and products, each participant herd Geneplus Program, have been placed at the disposal of their respective owners, through electronic files, readily accessible through the Internet and installed in your own computers, office of the city or the farm.
Currently, due to the expansion of high-speed Internet service, including rural areas, information of this nature, which previously could only be found on desktop computers or laptops can be quickly and readily found through mobile applications.
This was the reason why it was decided endeavor to application development that today makes available to users, created, innovatively to Nellore Summary, November 2015 edition.
The first step of this process consisted of processing the data of 336 herds assisted by Geneplus-Embrapa Program, having involved a total of 2.3 million animals, in order to reach the strategic indicators for the chooser's decision-making, namely, for each animal and each evaluated feature: the estimate of the genetic value, expressed in DEP - Difference Expected Progeny, accuracy, or the accuracy of this estimate, and the percentile measure that indicates the position of this estimate within the entire population. In addition, given the complexity of the selection process, which involves a large number of features are also presented, Genetics Qualification Indices - Basic IQG of raising, breeding and reproduction.
They are also available in the application other general information, such as average values for the different characteristics of the average EPDs for crop and graphics genetic tendencies.
The expectation of Geneplus-Embrapa team is that the creation of this application, a new challenge for the generation of new technologies applied to the production chain, provides its faster users and confidence in making selection decisions with the view improving systems beef cattle production.
