Between Fiqh and Sufism

Judging tasawuf as something deviant is not an easy matter, especially since tasawuf has been around for a long time and has grown with the growth of Islamic jurisprudence. If there are deviations, it is only the deviation of individuals or groups of people who attribute themselves to Sufism.

It is common for a group to deviate from one train of knowledge, such as in aqidah, we can see deviant groups such as Khowarij and Mujassimah, in fiqh too, there are those who are mutasahil like liberals and there are also those who are mutasyadid.

But what is certain is that Sufism has existed since the golden generation of Muslims and its existence is recognized by scholars, even Ibn Taimiyah (w 728 H) wrote a special book on Sufism which he called Fiqh at-Tasawuf.

Some Muslims see Sufism as something that deviates from religious teachings, maybe because of a wrong perception, even though one cannot judge something based on a wrong perception, but it must be based on facts and reality, Sheikh Utsaimin said;

"And among the rules that are well known and fixed among scientists is "the law of something is born from the perception of that thing". So don't judge something unless you see it with complete perception, so that later the law you give is in accordance with reality, if it's not like that, then there will be a big inequality.
