Exam Introduction: Tour Guide and Tour Leader Exam Introduction
I. General Tour Guide Exam
I. Eligibility (Article 5 of the Tour Guide Exam Rules): Citizens of the Republic of China who possess one of the following qualifications are eligible to take this exam:
1. Graduated from a public or registered private senior high school or higher vocational school and possess a graduation certificate.
2. Passed the elementary exam or a special exam of equivalent level and have held a relevant position for at least 4 years with supporting documentation.
3. Passed the advanced or general certification exam.
II. Passing Standard: According to Article 12 of the Tour Guide Exam Rules, for the Mandarin-speaking tour guide category, the average score of all subjects is the total exam score, with a minimum of 60 points required to pass. However, a score of 0 in any subject will result in a failing grade. Subjects missed during the examination will be considered as 0 points. For the Foreign Language Tour Guide Category, the first examination requires an average score of 60 or higher across all subjects for admission. However, candidates with a score of 0 in any subject or a score below 50 in the Foreign Language subject will not be admitted. Candidates exempt from certain subjects will be admitted based on a Foreign Language subject score of 60 or higher. Subjects missed during the examination will be considered as 0 points. For the Foreign Language Tour Guide Category, the second examination uses the average score from all oral examiners as the total score, with a passing score of 60 or higher.
III. Examination Subjects: According to Article 8 of the Tour Guide Examination Rules, the written examination subjects for the Foreign Language Tour Guide Category are as follows:
I. Tour Guide Practice (I) (including tour guiding, tourism safety and emergency handling, tourism psychology and behavior, airline ticketing, first aid knowledge, and international etiquette).
II. Tour Guide Practice (II) (including tourism administration and regulations, the Act Governing Relations between the People of Taiwan and the Mainland Area, and understanding of the current cross-strait situation).
III. Overview of Tourism Resources (including Taiwan history, Taiwan geography, and tourism resource maintenance). IV. Foreign Language (Choose one from English, Japanese, French, German, Spanish, Korean, Thai, Arabic, Russian, Italian, Vietnamese, Indonesian, or Malay).
Those who have passed the examination for either a foreign language tour guide or a Chinese language tour guide and hold a certificate of passing the examination for that category are exempt from the written examination for the foreign language tour guide category.
The written examination for the first category consists entirely of test-style questions.
The oral examination for the second category is conducted individually according to the foreign language chosen by the candidate and is conducted in accordance with the rules for foreign language oral examinations.
According to Article 9 of the Tour Guide Examination Rules, the examination subjects for the Chinese language tour guide category are as follows:
I. Tour Guide Practice (I) (including tour explanation, tourism safety and emergency handling, tourism psychology and behavior, airfare, first aid knowledge, and international etiquette).
II. Tour Guide Practice (II) (including tourism administration and regulations, the Act Governing Relations between the People of Taiwan and the Mainland, and understanding of the current situation across the Taiwan Strait). III. Overview of Tourism Resources (including Taiwan's history, geography, and maintenance of tourism resources).
The written examination will consist of test-style questions.
II. General Examination for Tour Leaders
I. Eligibility (Article 5 of the Tour Leader Examination Rules): Citizens of the Republic of China who possess one of the following qualifications are eligible to take this examination:
1. Graduated from a public or registered private senior high school or vocational high school, and possess a graduation certificate.
2. Passed an elementary examination or a special examination of equivalent level, and have held a relevant position for at least 4 years, with supporting documentation.
3. Passed a higher or general professional qualification examination.
II. Passing Standard: According to Article 11 of the Tour Leader Examination Rules, for Mandarin-speaking tour leaders, the average score of all subjects is the total examination score, with a minimum of 60 points required to pass. However, a score of 0 in any subject will result in a failing grade. Missed subjects will be considered as 0 points. For the Foreign Language Tour Leader category, the average score across all subjects is the total exam score, with a passing score of 60. However, a score of 0 in any subject or a score below 50 in the Foreign Language subject will result in a failing grade. For those exempt from certain subjects, the Foreign Language subject score will be the total exam score, with a passing score of 60. Missed subjects will be considered as 0 points.
III. Exam Subjects: According to Article 7 of the Tour Leader Examination Rules, the exam subjects for the Foreign Language Tour Leader category are as follows:
I. Tour Leader Practice (I) (including tour leader skills, airline ticketing, first aid knowledge, tourism safety and emergency handling, and international etiquette).
II. Tour Leader Practice (II) (including tourism regulations, entry and exit regulations, foreign exchange knowledge, the tourism section of the Civil Code's debt section and standardized foreign tourism contracts, the Act Governing Relations between the People of Taiwan and Mainland China, and understanding of the current cross-strait situation).
III. Overview of Tourism Resources (including world history, world geography, and tourism resource maintenance). IV. Foreign Language (choose one from English, Japanese, French, German, or Spanish).
Those who have passed the examination for either a foreign language tour leader or a Chinese language tour leader and hold a certificate of passing the examination for that category are exempt from the written examination for subjects other than the foreign language category when applying for the foreign language tour leader examination.
All examination subjects are in test format.
