All this gives is failed to obtain VIN. They finally provided a key and an odbii connecter after 2 months... The instructions in the box and the instructions on the app are very different and neither work. I can get the odbii connecter to pair with my phone for about 1 sec then it disconnects and around we go. Attempting key pairing without the Bluetooth connection just gets you the failed to obtain VIN message.

This application is functionality worthless, I purchased the key from Car Keys Express, and they provided this Bluetooth OBDII adapter and corresponding application. It constantly gives "Failed to obtain VIN" error. This is the second adapter! I have a useless key and a useless programmer! I have tried with both an iPhone and this Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra 5G. No dice. This unit doesn't want to pair easily taking multiple attempts. When I finally get to pair,it fails with the same exact error

Ok, so it worked. On one car. For $90. And now it's locked to that car. Typical for Autel, the fine print of LOCKS TO ONE VIN is buried at the very end of a web page that's not directly linked in the AutoZone sales page. So it saves me a few bucks on one car. Geeze. Why can Tom's Keys rent the same device out for about the same fee each, but I can't use it for more than one car? Tom's makes you return the OBDII device, so they must be able to reuse it. Why can't I also??
