It's a potentially useful app for actors, but it has at least two limitations that make it impractical (so far). I recognize they may be in development so I am describing them with hopeful intentions. First of, the edit function only allows the addition of a line. It does not allow changing an existing line or, at least the deletion of a line so an edited version can replace it. That leaves a problem unfixable. In the PDF script I imported, the app is treating line breaks as short pauses that change the rhythm, thus making it more difficult to using repetition to learn lines. Secondly, the voices are all the same. It would be a great help if a user could change the pitch of a voice, made deeper or higher, so it is differentiated. I'd be happy to review and offer a better rating if those issues were addressed.

Hey Joe, I'm happy to say that both these things already exist! In the edit script mode, if you want to edit a line or change the voice for a character you long press on the line and that should bring up a dialog with all of the "Edit line" options. Also for PDF import, only Fountain (https://fountain.io) formatted scripts import correctly.

Was excited about this app at first and started manually entering script information. It seemed to work well! I came back to add in more today and the app kept crashing whenever I clicked on a scene. I tried to download the script but it wouldn't save. I uninstalled and reinstalled and all my data is now lost. I really needed and wanted this app to work but it just didn't. :(

Sorry to hear about this! In the future you can use a free program like Writer Duet to export your script to fountain format and use the import feature in the Run Lines app. If you send a followup to support@brokenshotgun.com, I can try to fix this issue for you.

I don't know why this app has such a low rating. It works great and is loaded with quite a few features. Toggling lines, separate scenes within scripts, and pausing after lines by specified characters, to name a few. The author(s) has a good understanding of what an actor needs. It's definitely the best script rehearsal assistant I'm been able to find, at least for Android. Thank you for making it!
