About this app

What was it like to consult the ancient Greek gods?

Travel back in time with this free VR app and visit an ancient Greek oracle of Zeus.

For centuries, ancient Greek men and women visited oracular sanctuaries – sacred sites where they could ask the gods to reveal secrets of the past, present and future.

In this experience you will:
- Explore an ancient sacred site.
- Learn about the lives of ancient Greek men and women.
- Take part in an oracular ritual for yourself – what would you ask Zeus?

The Virtual Reality Oracle can be experienced in several different ways, from high-end VR headsets to phones with Google Cardboard. It is also possible to view the VRO as a series of films in your web browser.

You can find out more about Virtual Reality Oracle on our website at www.vroracle.co.uk.

The Virtual Reality Oracle: An Immersive Experience of the Ancient Greek Oracle at Dodona is a collaboration between academics at the University of Bristol, the University of Bath, and King’s College London. The VR experience was created in collaboration with Friday Sundae Studios. The project is funded by the UK Arts and Humanities Research Council.
