About this app

The app "Kriegsmäler" offers a range of Catholic, Protestant and Jewish monuments from the period after the First World War to its historic sites in Munich. The particular focus is on the interpretation of the text, image and symbol language of the monument, the representatives of the religious communities in the then societal debate positioned through which war and peace.

The twelve locations can be accessed via an interactive map. Accompanying texts, historical figures, current photos and audio commentary provides extensive background information. An introduction and a summary comment facilitate historical period. A complete proof directory allows the further deepening.

The integrated navigation function and the integration of "Google Street View" allow a virtual or real walking tour of Munich.

This app is part of the DFG-project "Catholic War peace discourses (1914 / 18-1939 / 45). Munich was "created between cultural pluralism and, movement of capital 'at the Department of Medieval and Modern Church History of the University of Tübingen and published using the funds provided by the German Research Community.

The Catholic chaplaincy at the Dachau Concentration Camp. Department Memorial Museum work and the Theological College of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in Bavaria, Augustana have funded the Virtual Exhibition.
