About this app

Visiting exhibitions devoted to the prehistory and ancient art of Pomerania at the National Museum in Szczecin
The application is a form of guide and audio guide allowing for independent tours of 3 permanent exhibitions devoted to the ancient culture of Pomerania at the National Museum in Szczecin.

With the app you can visit the following exhibitions:
1. "Dawn of Pomerania. Collection of Pomeranian Antiquities" - the exhibition prepared in the building of the Museum of Regional Traditions presents archaeological artefacts spanning fourteen thousand years of cultural history in the Pomeranian lands, from the end of the Ice Age to the beginnings of the history of the Duchy of Pomerania. The 750 artefacts from the collection, which has been gathered in Szczecin since the first quarter of the 19th century, include objects of daily use, weapons, toys, ornaments, as well as objects connected with beliefs and art.

2. The "Mystery of Light. Medieval Art in Pomerania" - The exhibition, prepared in the building of the National Museum in Szczecin on Wały Chrobrego (Chrobry Embankment), presents the most valuable monuments of medieval art from Pomerania, created over four centuries of the region's history from the time of Christianisation in the 12th century to the introduction of the Reformation in 1534.
3. "Hidden Meanings. Art in Pomerania in the 16th and 17th centuries". - The exhibition, held in the building of the National Museum in Szczecin on Wały Chrobrego (Chrobry Embankment), presents Pomeranian painting, sculpture and artistic craftsmanship from the introduction of the Reformation in 1534 to around 1700, as well as artistic connections between Pomeranian art and European art of the period.

The individual exhibitions can be visited using the prepared routes (top 10, archaeology, medieval art, 16th-17th century art) or you can create your own route by adding the objects to your favourites. The ancient art exhibitions include audio-descriptions of the monuments (designed for visually impaired visitors) in Polish. The archaeological exhibition, on the other hand, includes four non-interactive thematic tours, aimed primarily at students participating in museum lessons, and an e-guide.

After launching the application, the user is given the option of selecting one of three languages (Polish, German, English). He or she can then select the exhibition area of interest (ancient art, archaeology), the exhibition or exhibitions of which are located in one of the buildings of the National Museum in Szczecin. The selection of exhibitions allows the display of modes/views adapted visually and thematically to the content of the exhibitions, taking into account the varied content and functionality of each. Enabling the Bluetooth function on the device allows communication with users via notifications.

The app is developed in two versions: for the Android and iOS platforms and is available for download via Google Play and the App Store to the user's carrier.

We wish you enjoy using the app and invite you to visit the exhibitions at the National Museum in Szczecin.
