About this app

=== CAPTATIO BENEVOLENTIAE

There is no company or money of sorts behind this app: it's something I did in my spare time. If you like it, consider leaving a review or at least rating it.

Also, my interests have shifted and I'm not working on this app anymore (I'm very sorry) but I update it from time to time to keep it working.

Riccardo

=== LONGER SALES PITCH

Enjoy your own 2D and 3D movies in a virtual cinema, for free (it also supports panoramic 360° and 180° movies)!

Full Virtual Reality: turn your head around and watch the environment.

2 (honestly bare) 3D environments, and dozens of photographic ones to choose from.

Works with all mp4 files (and with a bit of luck other formats...), can play movies from the web and other applications.

Supports many 3D movie formats, like SBS, Over/Under and Red-Cyan anaglyph, but plays normal 2D movies as well.

No ads, no in-app payments or statistics gathering: 100% free for personal use!

Doesn't require buttons on the headset to work.

Make yourself at home: check the "Options" menu and configure the theater as you like!

The movie represented on the virtual screen ("Elephants Dream" (c) copyright 2006, Blender Foundation / Netherlands Media Art Institute / www.elephantsdream.org), can be freely downloaded in both SBS and over/under version at the URL: https://orange.blender.org/blog/elephants-dream-in-stereoscopic-3d

Spectacular for what it is * * * * * It is very easy to use. The only complaint is that there are no icons/thumbnails for videos in the browser. Otherwise, it is the benchmark for Phone only VR Aps. The control wheel is something I wish I would see more often in other apps, rather than having to connect a controller. Gotta say, Dune be hitting different in VR. To the developer, thank you

"No ads, no in-app payments or statistics gathering: 100% free for personal use!" It's nice to see an ethical developer. If you ever make a paid/donation version, I'll buy it. Update: It's possible to make a living selling software ethically. I have done it for the past three decades. Adware and IAPs are absolutely not necessary.

UPDATE: sorry J S, I didn't mean to sound disrespectful really: I'm sincerely curious to understand what you mean by "ethical development": I don't see all advertising or in-app payments as unethical, but maybe I'm looking at it from the wrong angle. If you care to elaborate on that, feel free to mail me: I'll welcome your point of view. Merry Xmas

Seems to worked to play fullsbs 3d movies right away. Is there a way to move the red "options" bubble? I like to zoom in a little and it covers part of the video... Maybe make it even lower? All in all though, worked better than everything else that I tried so far. * Update... Found it in the settings.

Thank you for the review and congratulations for finding the settings to dim/move/resize the controls: they are so convoluted you should deserve a prize :) Thank you for the stars and have a great day! Cheers, Riccardo

What’s new

Hi, and thank you for sticking with this app!

I now maintain the app only (my interests have shifted a while ago: sorry!).

In this release, I have fixed a problem with the loading of photographic environments and enabled VR Theater for new Android devices.

For practical reasons, I also increased the minimum Android version to use the app to 6.0.

Have a good VR!
