The Columban Way is an ancient pilgrimage route that crosses Europe and follows the footsteps of the abbot Columbanus from Ireland, his native land, to Bobbio, home of the famous abbey he founded in the heart of the Apennines.
The route runs from the Swiss border of Villa di Chiavenna, along the Sentiero del Viandante (Wayfarer's Path) to Lecco and Milan and then to Bobbio and to the cave of San Michele di Coli.
The "Columban Way" app allows you to easily orient yourself along the route. The interactive map allows you to visualize your position on the route through the GPS of your device, even without an internet connection: you can download the maps thus avoiding the consumption of data traffic.
In case of distraction, an alarm warns you if you stray from the route, and you can report any problems on the routes by automatically communicating your GPS position.
Accommodations, services and points of interest along the routes are located on the map, and you can contact them directly from your smartphone.
The Application "Columban Way" is a project realized by the Municipality of Bobbio with the support of the Rural Development Program 2014-2020 Measure 19 "Support for LEADER Rural Development" - Specific Action 8.1.1.b "Enhancement of itineraries and tourist trails".
