About this app

Your Linux Terminal, in your pocket

LinShell is a Debian-based Linux Terminal app that runs locally on Android, giving you a complete Linux environment without Root. Manage projects with Git, handle tasks with Python, and add the Codex AI assistant when you need it. Take your familiar development tools wherever you go.

🛠️ Everyday tools, ready out of the box
Git, Python, an SSH Client, curl, wget, rsync, tmux, nano and jq are already included. Connect to remote servers, edit configuration files or run scripts with the tools you know.

⌨️ Made for mobile, easier to use
Use your Android keyboard alongside Tab, Ctrl, Alt, Esc, Enter and arrow keys. Open Combos for key combinations and customize the shortcut row. Swipe up or down to browse Terminal output without repeatedly opening the keyboard.

🗂️ Multiple terminals, room for every task
Open several Terminal sessions at once, name each one and switch freely between them. Sessions share the Linux file system and installed tools. Closing one leaves the others running.

🤖 Expand as needed with Codex AI
Choose what you need in Recommended tools and install your selection with one tap. Add the Codex AI assistant for help writing code, working with documents and automating tasks. You can also install Python extras, Node.js, Java, Linux build tools, network utilities and audio/video tools, or use apt to add more Debian packages.

Optional tools are downloaded only when you choose to install them.

🔄 Easy copy and paste across systems
Copy text between Android and your Linux Terminal. Select text and copy it, or paste from the Android clipboard into Terminal. Keep commands and notes ready to use.

🔊 Audio support for more ways to work
Play audio and record through your microphone in Linux. Microphone recording requires permission. Audio processing pauses automatically when LinShell moves to the background or your phone is locked, helping save battery and protect your privacy.

📌 System requirements and getting started
• Requirements: An ARM64 device running Android 9.0 or later.
• First use: Follow the in-app guide to set up your local Linux environment.
