What to do when your collar is cold?
Coleiros may, in the course of their lives, stop singing. This can happen when they get sick, when they get sad, when they are not handled enough, when they come back from the moult, when they are scared, when they saw or heard another male who bullied them, etc.
First of all, it is necessary to remember that Coleiros only sing from September to March (or until their feather moulting starts). Don't want your Coleiro to sing between April and August. If you force it (with females or with challenges in front of other collars) you can jeopardize its recovery during the rest months.
But there are, in fact, some tricks to help Coleiro sing more vigorously. You will have to find out what will make your Coleiro "let go of the corner". Here are some tips to get your Coleiro back into shape:
See or listen to a female:
Females are always a good way to tinker with Coleiro's panache. Pay attention if your Collar will like to sing to a female, as some of them get so excited when they see a female that they don't do anything else (not even sing). You will have to find out if the female helps or hinders your Coleiro's singing.
