Even in the most basic horizontal directional drilling, mining or waterwell project, specific calculations— pump output, hole volume, annular volume, annular velocity—are vital to the success completion of the project.
In the past, rig crews were forced to carry heavy reference books and manuals in the pickup trucks or rely on memory. When calculations had to be made, they had to stop, look up the right equation or hoped they remembered the correct equation and manually perform the calculation. Even with scientific calculators and 3x5 plastic reference cards, there was always the potential for error.
The Reference Guide puts all of the reference materials and calculators that HDD, mining & waterwell drilling crews need to do their jobs easier, faster, and safer.

If I ever want to be compensated with work uniforms that management is convinced have the field employees thinking they're on some kind of pro sports team whilst making about as low of a monthly wage under the most stringent set of handbook rules/policies in the industry, it brings me peace to know that The number of bridges I've burned throughout my journey isn't so great as to leave me humbled to the point where I'd actually have to pretend to be grateful for being the victim of slavedriving.
