With around 4,000 members, the German Society for Pain Medicine e.V. (DGS) is the largest society of practicing pain therapists in Europe. Since it was founded in 1984, the medical society has been committed to improving the care of patients with chronic pain. She wants to achieve this in two main ways: On the one hand, through a better understanding of the (emergency) situation of pain patients in the professional world, among payers, political decision-makers and in the population. On the other hand, through better diagnosis of chronic pain and better treatment for those affected.
