Kautilya, Vishnugupta and Vatsyayana are a famous brahmana in Indian history, who played a major role in the elevation of Chandragupta to the throne of the kingdom of Magadha and in the destruction of the previous dynasty - Nanda. He stood out for his cunning and subtle political mind, and historians of India compare him with Machiavelli, whose works will see the light of day only 1800 years later. He is credited with a treatise on politics and morality known as the Chanakya Sutra, as well as the Chanakya Rajanitishastra.
