- What is SpidItalia?
SPID is the Public System for digital identity which, through a single pair of username and password, allows you to access all Public Administration services quickly and easily. SpidItalia is the name of the SPID digital identity provided by the identity provider Register.it.
- What is SpidItalia's OPT?
To access the various online services with a SPID of at least 2nd level you need a username, a password and a temporary access code called an OTP code (One-Time Password). As the word itself says, it is a disposable code that has a temporary validity and must be used only once.
The SpidItalia OPT app allows you to use your Android and/or iOS device to generate an OTP code to access the online services of the Public Administration via the SpidItalia SPID. In fact, the app generates a code to be used as a second authentication step when you log in using your Spid Italia credentials, provided by Register.it
-How to configure the SpidItalia OTP app?
To allow the receipt of the OTP code via the SpidItalia OTP app you will have to download the App and associate it with your SpidItalia SPID credentials. After downloading the application follow these steps:
1) With another device, access the Selfcare Area by entering your SpidItalia credentials and the OTP code that you will receive via SMS;
2) Click on the "SpidItalia App" link in the left menu of the Selfcare Area and you will arrive at a page where there is a QRcode;
3) With the Spiditalia OTP app downloaded on your device, scan the QRcode in the Selfcare Area;
4) Enter the verification code that you will receive from the SpidItalia OTP App in the Selfcare Area and click on "Proceed".
For more detailed information on configuring the app, consult the online guide on the Register.it website
-What are the advantages of using SpidItalia's OPT?
The use of an OTP (One-Time Password) code to access SpidItalia's SPID digital identity offers several advantages:
1) Security: An OTP code adds an additional check to the authentication process represented by a dynamic disposable password, with a limited duration, which hackers can neither memorize nor predict.
2) Two-factor authentication: The use of an OTP code allows two-factor authentication because, in addition to the traditional password, an additional level of security is added to confirm and verify the user's identity.
3) Ease of use: The OTP code is generated quickly and easily by the SpidItalia OPT App without the need for additional devices and without being linked to the activity of telephone operators. This makes access via SpidItalia's SPID digital identity easier, reducing the risks in the event of loss of physical devices or in the event of problems relating to possible outages from telephone operators.
4) Credential theft protection: Using an OTP reduces the risk of digital identity theft as the OTP is only valid for a single login and for a short period of time.
