The Hokuchin Museum is a museum that displays valuable collections of both Imperial Japanese Army’s 7th Division and Tondenhei who has been trained in a harsh climate to defend Hokkaido from the threat of the north side as their main task.
These are inseparable from the history of Asahikawa city.
In addition, the Hokuchin museum has played the role of deepening the understanding of the activities of the 2nd Division of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force which has inherited the will of Hokuchin which means defending and stabilization of north and walked with the local people.
From the history of the Tondenhei and Imperial Japanese Army’s 7th Division who defended and reclaimed Hokkaido,to the 2nd Division of the Japan Ground Self-Defense Force Who walked side by side with the people of Hokkaido through the various eras of the National Police Reserve and National Safety Forces,we have around 2,500 precious artefacts that tell the story of Hokkaido's reclamation and defense through the years.
