The VISwijzer assess fish and shellfish, which are sustainability for sale in Netherlands.
Fish can get four different colors:
Blue
Best choice, select the MSC label for sustainable fishing and ASC certification for responsible growth.
Green
Good choice, this fish is not overfished or cultivated carefully, with minimal damage to nature.
Yellow
This fish is a second choice. There are still problems with fishing or farming.
Red
Buy this fish, they are overfished or the way of fishing or farming can be stressful
for nature.
The VISwijzer you can easily find out what fish is justified or not. Very handy when you buy fish at the supermarket or seek out a delicious meal in a restaurant! The VISwijzer is an initiative of Goodfish Foundation, the North Sea Foundation (SDN) and the World Wildlife Fund (WWF).
