About this app

AndStatus is an Open Source multiple accounts client for multiple Social networks, including Mastodon, ActivityPub (Client to Server), GNU social and Pump.io.
AndStatus can combine your feeds from all networks into one Timeline,
and it allows you to read and post even when you are offline.

For Android v.7.0+ devices.

Differentiating features of AndStatus:

1. Many accounts in different Social networks. You may have several accounts in each, write/reply as any "You" and share between accounts and networks.
2. You don't need to be online to read timelines and to post your updates: drafts and unsent posts are kept even after reboot. They will be sent when your device is Online.
3. Convenient tree-like "Conversation view".
4. "Global search" allowing you to search public notes in all networks with one query.
5. Lists of Friends and Followers, presented as User Lists and as Timelines (with the latest note by each User).
6. Notes (tweets)/avatars/attached images are periodically synced in a background, when your device has a good connection. By default, attachments are downloaded via Wi-Fi only.
7. Cached data may be stored for years or for several days only - it's your choice.
8. Backup accounts and notes and Restore them on any of your devices. Own your data!
9. Free and without ads, community supported.

Seems like a good app thought it does not work smoothly for me. The app wont stop syncing and tweets loading is laggy. Idk what is wrong with the app. Given how the app seems to favor offline rather than online, I left it synchronising for hour and even then the new content loading is always laggy. Idk what is wrong. Another down size is the inability to load gif. The app depends an a os native or third party image viewer. I was unable to watch gif nor vid on twitter.

Since v.57 GIF images are supported. For Android 9+ GIFs are animated. I wouldn't say that timeline scrolling lags on my devices, but it definitely could be smoother.

It barely manages to read the feeds. Most times it just gets stuck re-reading in a tight loop. And doesn't let you interact. The UI is generally terrible. Putting most actions behind multiple modal dialogues.

Hi Rene! 1. I suspect that you noticed often refreshes during first minutes of the app work. That is expected and updates usually stop after a while... 2. You may even disable "Sync while using AndStatus" to avoid interruptions. 3. Please update to v.60.01 (just posted...) - background syncing improved. Want to help testing?

I expected it to be a working lightweight Twitter wrapper similar to Frost but I don't really know how to describe this. It's like a barebone white background text wrapper with a horrible UI and UX. It loaded posts very slowly and avatars took forever to load. Loaded avatars are blurry. Navigation was not intuitive. I'm giving it 1 extra star for being open source but otherwise there's no way i'd think of using this app in its current state.

Sorry to disappoint you :-( But the application's description mentions its several strong points, being "lightweight" is not among them, and Twitter is only one of four supported Social networks. And do you really need another lightweight Twitter wrapper?

What's new

Twitter is no longer supported
