About this game

Tongits offline is a popular card game in the Philippines, and it can be played using a deck of 52 cards. It's a three-player game that involves strategy, quick thinking, and some luck. Here are the basic rules and setup for playing Tongits offline:

The main challenge of Tongits is to get rid of all your cards by forming sets and runs or to have the lowest number of points when the central stack runs out of cards.

Card Deal
1. Players: 3 players.
2. Deck: A standard 52-card deck without jokers.
3. Dealer: One player is chosen to deal. The dealer shuffles the cards and deals 12 cards to each player. The dealer gets 13 cards. The remaining cards form the central stack.

Gameplay
1. Starting the Game: The dealer starts the game by discarding one card to the discard pile.
2. Turns: Play moves clockwise. On a player's turn, they can either:
- Draw a card from the central stack.
- Pick up the top card from the discard pile (only if they can use it immediately to form a set or run).

3. Forming Sets and Runs: Players aim to form:
- Sets: Three or four cards of the same rank (e.g., 7♥, 7♠, 7♣).
- Runs: Three or more consecutive cards of the same suit (e.g., 5♠, 6♠, 7♠).

4. Discarding: After drawing, the player must discard one card to the discard pile, ending their turn.

Special Moves
1. Tongits: If a player gets rid of all their cards by forming sets and runs before the central stack is exhausted, they declare "Tongits" and win the game.
2. Draw: If all cards in the central stack are drawn and no player has declared Tongits, players compare their hands. The player with the lowest total points wins.
3. Burn: If a player challenges another player's hand believing they have a lower score, and it turns out the challenger has a higher score, the challenger loses.

Scoring
- Number Cards: Face value (2-10).
- Face Cards (J, Q, K): 10 points each.
- Aces: 1 point.

Winning
- Tongits: Instantly wins the game.
- Lowest Points: If the game ends in a draw, the player with the lowest total points in their hand wins.
- Burn: If a player successfully challenges another player's hand and wins, the challenged player pays a penalty, usually agreed upon before the game starts.

Offline Play Tips
1. Strategy: Focus on forming sets and runs early to reduce points.
2. Observation: Pay attention to the cards other players are picking and discarding to anticipate their hands.
3. Bluffing: Sometimes it's beneficial to bluff by discarding cards that may mislead opponents about your hand's status.

Variations
There are many regional variations to the rules of Tongits, so it’s a good idea to clarify the rules with all players before starting the game.
