CatchRect is a fast arcade game built on one simple idea: a paddle, a stream of falling squares, and your reflexes.
Squares rain down from the top of the screen. Slide your paddle — drag anywhere, or use the arrow keys / A and D — to catch the good ones and dodge the rest. You start with three lives; lose them all and the run is over.
WHAT TO CATCH
⬜ White — points, the backbone of your score
🟩 Green — an extra life
🟦 Shield — blocks red hits for a few seconds
🟪 Slow Motion — slows every falling square for a few seconds
WHAT TO DODGE
🟥 Red — costs a life, and some fall fast
🟧 Platform Slow — your paddle turns sluggish
🔀 Invert Controls — left becomes right
FASTER EVERY 12 SECONDS
No slow warm-up: the first square drops the moment you start, and every 12 seconds the game climbs a level. Squares fall faster, spawn more often, and your paddle shrinks. A ring next to the level counts down to the next speed-up.
BUILD YOUR COMBO
Catch white squares back-to-back to raise your multiplier:
• 5 in a row → ×2
• 10 in a row → ×3
• 20 in a row → ×5
Catch a red square or let a white one slip past, and the streak resets.
GO INTO FEVER
Hold a ×5 streak and the game goes into fever: the screen heats up and the soundtrack kicks in harder until the streak breaks.
MADE TO FEEL GOOD
A synth soundtrack that builds with every level. Every white you catch plays a note, and a streak climbs the scale into a tune. A buzz when a red gets through and on every new level, a banner the moment you beat your best, and a pure-black mode for OLED screens.
After every run you see how it went — time, level reached, whites caught, best combo, lives gained and shield blocks — and can send your best to the online leaderboard, where every score is a real one.
How long can you last?
Catch the white, dodge the red — a fast arcade game that keeps speeding up.
