LED-to-Bulb Converter is a free app which compares Watt values of LED lamps, light bulbs, compact fluorescent lamps (energy saving lamps), and halogen lamps and their typical corresponding brightness in Lumen (lm). The app helps you to choose new LED or energy saving lamps which are approximately as bright as the good old light bulb.
In addition to the Lumen-Watt calculator, the app offers a calculator for the old and new EU energy labels for LED bulbs and other light sources. The old energy label scale ranged from A++ to E while the new one ranges from A to G. The scales cannot be easily mapped from the old class to the new one. The energy label calculator compares both scales side-by-side. The new scale will be mandatory for light sources starting from September 2021.
Finally, the app also offers a scale to get a feeling for the color temperature of lamps (measured in Kelvin).
Please note that the lumen-per-watt-values are only approximate average values and may vary from lamp type to lamp type!
Links to selected external websites lead to pages providing more information about Lumen, Kelvin, Light bulb sockets and screws (e.g. Edison Screw (E27, E14, E10, etc.) and the EU energy label.
While Watt is a unit of power, Lumen is a unit of luminous flux. Lumen measures the total quantity of visible light emitted by a light source per time.
