Downloaded onto your device, the Hidden Italy self-guided walking app will help you explore some of the most beautiful regions in Europe. Using satellite-based GPS navigation with user-friendly displays, the app will guide you along the trails in real-time, indicating points of interest as you go. It can be used stand-alone or as a complement to our traditional paper-based ‘roadbooks’.
The main features of the app include: providing you with up-to-date maps with altimetric profiles (showing the ups and downs), written instructions, as well as live GPS navigation. It enhances safety by providing off-track alerts if you should stray off the route as well as enabling you to send SMS texts with GPS coordinates to our support services if you have questions or require help.
The app, personalised with your own itinerary, will need to be downloaded to your device before setting out either by downloading the whole route prior to starting or downloading day-by-day as you go. Using satellite technology means that you won’t be churning through data, although you will have to be mindful of your battery levels.
