The history of Rádio Castro begins in 1949 with the interest of some citizens of Castro society in installing a radio station in the city of Castro (PR). At the beginning of the 20th century, there were already a telegraph, printing press, newspaper, cinema, theater society and social clubs in Castro. This fact meant that society built a discourse in which it was ahead of time and linked to innovations. And it was this feeling that led thirteen Castro citizens to become interested in the modernity of the moment: Radio. Numerous receivers existed in the city, but they picked up stations from Curitiba and São Paulo. There was no local broadcaster. Thus, on November 10, 1949, the first social contract of Rádio Castro was signed, a limited liability company. The names of José Waldemar Iucksh, Feliciano José de Menezes, Dario de Macedo, José Pedro Novaes Rosas, Luiz Prata Mestre, Eduardo José de Quadros, Francisco Cavalin, Urias dos Santos, Pedro Kaled, João Moreira de Melo, Lauro Grein were included in this society. Son, Alberto Moreira de Melo and Ciro Novaes Vilella.

The thirteen partners' first action was to import an English transmitter. As none of them had any type of experience in communication and radio broadcasting, space was opened for local talents in a new professional field. On February 4, 1950, Rádio Castro went on air for the first time, with the experimental program “A Voz do Iapó”. Three names stood out in the company's early years, Douglas Pereira, whose emphasis was on freshman programs and sports news; Dejame Tolentino Barbosa, Colonel Barbosa, who favored Gaucho musicality; and Compadre Caju, who established himself in the country music sector and is still on the air today.

Broadcasting in amplitude modulation (AM) for almost 68 years, Rádio Castro underwent an increase in power and changes in prefixes over time. Its first transmitter, from the Byngton & Co. brand, had a capacity of 250 Watts and 820 kilocycles and transmitted using the prefix ZYS 21. This equipment was replaced by a 500 Watt transmitter, changing the prefix to ZYE 220. In the 70s, Rádio Castro It started to be captured by the prefix ZYJ 1130, which had two transmitters, one tube and one transistor. On December 22, 2017, Rádio Castro began transmitting its waves in modulated frequency (FM), under the prefix 95.5, with a new and modern transmitter, beginning a new era at the station.
