This Android application is Reading the Qur'an During Menstruation, Is It OK - Isnawati Lc. MA. In PDF format.
In general, this madhhab forbids menstruating women from reading the Qur'an. It's just that within certain limits or goals they provide exceptions. Such as dhikr with verses of the Qur'an or reciting verses or verses of the Qur'an.
The following is the opinion of the Hanafiyah scholars:
1. As-Sarakhsi (W. 483)
"It is not permissible for a person who is menstruating to hold a mushaf, nor to enter a mosque, nor is it permissible for her to read one verse of the Al-Qur'an perfectly"
Imam As-Sarakhsi in his book Al-Mabsuth emphasized that it is unlawful for a menstruating woman to hold a Mushaf and read the verses of the Al-Qur'an in its entirety.
He gave the limit for the prohibition of reading one verse in full, but if it is only a fragment of a verse or not up to one verse, he is of the opinion that this is not considered reading the Qur'an which is forbidden.
2. Al-Kasani (W. 587)
The legal consequences of menstruation and childbirth are that it is not permissible to pray, fast, read the Qur'an, hold mushafs without covers, enter mosques, and perform tawaf in the baitullah.
3. Ibnul Humam (d. 681 H)
It is not for menstruating, junub and postnatal women to read the Qur'an. Because the Prophet SAW said: "It is not for women who are menstruating and junub to read anything from the Qur'an."
