Every day, after teachers take attendance on the Waliku mobile app, an absence task-list is generated for teachers or community workers to follow up on their prioritized list of absent students. Teachers or community workers call or meet their parents/ guardians to know the reason for absence and advise them so children are encouraged to return to school. If children stay chronically absent despite their efforts, schools link with local health or child-welfare providers with the help of Waliku to triage and assist families and students in need.
