The introduction of armies, once the player ascends to kingship, adds a strategic layer to military endeavours, allowing for the invasion of neighbouring kingdoms and defence against aggressors, fundamentally altering the game's dynamics.

The game intricately weaves in elements of public order and health, impacted by the player's decisions and external events. Hosting festivals can boost happiness and public order, while the construction of churches and other buildings enhances the health and overall well-being of the populace. The balance of happiness, health, and security ratings influences villager migration, with high ratings attracting newcomers and low ratings driving them away.

Trade plays a pivotal role, with players able to set up export and import routes, adjusting to the demands of winter and other challenges. The introduction of corruption as a late-game mechanic adds depth, simulating the complexities of managing a growing empire. Players must hire nobles to combat corruption, which if left unchecked, can severely impact income and stability.
