Krishnagar.com is an online portal dedicated to the people of Krishnagar (also spelt as 'Krishnanagar) and outskirts in Nadia district of West Bengal. This app has a three-fold utility for the users, where they can navigate local news coverage, get updates on local events and access a complete directory of services.
Krishnagar, the district headquarters of Nadia district, has a rich heritage of arts, culture and politics weaved into the historical fabric of Bengal. Famous for its clay artisans of Ghurni area, the enigmatic Jagadhatri puja, exquisite delicacies like the 'Sarpuria' and 'Sarbhaja' and of course the famous personalities like Raygunakar Bharat Chandra, Ramprasad Sen, Dwijendra Lal Roy, Narayan Sanyal, Yogiraj Shyamacharan Lahiri and many more, Krishnagar has also contributed to the neo-world architectural paradigm in terms of housing age-old monuments like the Krishnagar 'Rajbari', Krishnagar Government College and many more.
Since long, Krishnagar not only has an intimate connection with other neighboring towns and villages of Nadia like Nabadwip, Shantipur, Bethuadahari, Ranaghat, Plassey, Chapra, Dogachhi etc. but has also served as a hotspot for the residents in terms of utility, culture and heritage. Nabadwip, once correctly referred to as the 'Oxford of the East' was directly under the royal patronage of Krishnagar Rajbari. The other neighboring towns and villages also shared historical significance with Krishnagar, as it is still reflected in the culture, festivals and livelihood of the people residing in these parts of Bengal.
Krishnagar.com is an initiative taken up by few of us to create a platform with exclusive content, extending from local news coverage to exploring unknown historical trivia, from providing on-spot utility services to providing instant updates on local events and from the historical mango orchards of Plassey to the Mystical alluvial plains of Nabadwip. Our goal is to create an inclusive community of people who proudly calls themselves 'Krishnanagarik'.
Our initial sections are:
a) News - Local news coverage, mainly in Nadia district
b) History - Historical facts of Krishnagar and outskirts, mainly related to Krishnagar
c) Directory - A comprehensive directory of all forms of services available in and around Krishnagar
d) Events - Updates on the when, where and what of a local event
e) Citizens' voice - A platform to raise your concerns, vocalize issues and share your experience
f) Notice board - Alerts for important government and public notices, job openings etc.
