let's ask : how many of us know/understand sensibly, what it means by - a.m./p.m.
is it ante-meridiem/ante-meridian ? OR anti-meridiem/anti-meridien ?
yet an another, popularly used phrase 'intervening night of' mean exactly & when can this be used & in what context ?

first of all, is this all ' easing or enervating ' on the mind, . . . . can't there be a sensible, straight way to refer to the TIME.
yes, the ssdd' read : this pinpoints the present, perforce, i.e., IN which current Hour & AT what Minute. you are exactly living .
( you've the dual'SKY design - for a more visual DAY/NIGHT + QUARTERS fixation )
eg : am : ( IN ) the 23rd Hour ( AT ) the 35th min. of the Day/Date : 01-Jan-2020 / OR for short, say : 23rd . 35 .
for eg : : my flight departs at : 11.35 a.m. / 22.35 ( CONFUSING Reading - abandon )
my flight departs at : 23rd hr : 35th min. ( 35th min of 23rd hr. ) . ( CLEAR Reading - adopt )

the confusing/dis'orienting areas : 00.00 am ( when in speech, how do you say this - is the proverbial question ? )

00.00 pm ( if we go by am/pm, why can't we say this for mid'day, is the question )

12.00 noon or is this mid'noon ?

what's the duration of mid'day/mid'night, let's ask - practically non'existent, for our civil use - it's just a nano second (1 billionth of a second)
what's the word 'noon' mean ? if it is Moon in the Night, it should be Sun in the Day, that's simple, why complicate with noon.
have shown both the : DAY / NIGHT screens ( where exactly you are in the Day/Night, and it's a pleasurable picture ) & ideally TIME should be in 24 hrs ONLY and never 12+12 hours, bringing in the a.m./p.m & unnecessarily dis'orienting.

the culprit could be the zero. here. ( when you take & show mid'night as the starting point of the Date/Day & show this as zero )
for mathematical/scientific usage/application, zero would be meaningful.
for the common/civil use; just an impossibility to orient, dangerous at times, many victimised ( most famous eg is missing their flights ) due to a.m./p.m.
on money'matters, okay ; you say 5 & half thousand, you have 5 thousands, + this half is of 6th thousand, have got no quarrel here.

TIME should be about : where am I living exactly on the - 24 hr. scale of the - Day/Date + Day/Night . Period .
