Trolling Angles allows you to create your own Trolling Depth Curves.
The Trolling Angles app provides an accurate, rapid, convenient, versatile, and economical tool with which a trolling angler can know how to present any trolled lure or bait at any depth where fish are most likely to perceive and strike the lure or bait.
The patented method used by the Trolling Angles app does not rely on external data for specific lure types. It does not rely on knowing the values of variable physical factors such as weight, line diameter, or lure geometry, or the mathematics and physics which depends on those factors. It does not rely on observing and measuring the submerged lure.
Trolling Angles relies only on the line lengths and angles of the line as it enters the water surface, observed with the tackle and conditions in actual use.
In a calibration phase, the angler uses the app to measure and record the angle of incidence between the water surface and the actual rigged trolling line, at several different line lengths.
In an analysis phase, the app calculates a curve data structure which approximates the actual curved trolling line profile.
In a trolling phase, after calibration and analysis, the angler specifies the desired depth, and the app uses the curve data structure to look up and display the line length which is required to troll at that depth.
By leveraging measurements for the same rig at different speeds, Trolling Angles can interpolate depth curves for any desired speed, can measure the velocity (speed and direction) of water current, and can correct for current to show the true apparent boat and lure speed with respect to the water.
All configuration input data consisting of line lengths and angles, is generated, stored, and owned by the user on the local device. Trolling Angles requires precise location permission for features which use the GPS to measure speed but does not store or transmit location information or any other user data.
Trolling Angles is free to download and install. Full features are activated by buying a monthly or annual subscription or permanent license.
