"FloodWatch" is the Official Mobile App of Central Water Commission, Ministry of Jal Shakti, Govt. of India that is specifically designed for dissemination of real-time flood situation and flood forecasts.
FloodWatch utilizes advanced technologies such as satellite data analysis, mathematical modeling, and real-time monitoring to provide accurate and timely flood forecasts upto 7 days. This application offers essential information regarding flood-prone areas, potential risks, and recommended actions to minimize risk to life. Its user-friendly interface ensures that everyone can stay informed and make well-informed decisions during flood events.
Key features of FloodWatch include:
• Bilingual Support: All information is available in English and Hindi languages.
• Real-time Flood Monitoring: Stay updated with the latest flood situation across the country based on near realtime river flow data from various sources.
• 7-day Flood Forecast: Access to CWC flood forecasts for the next 7 days either by selecting specific states or directly from the interactive map.
• Location-based Flood Forecast: By entering your specific location, usere can receive current flood situations, forecasts, and risk assessments tailored for the area of choice.
• Forecast Graphs and Analysis: The app provides explicit flood forecast graphs, along with audio and readable flood summaries for specific locations. User can easily navigate the map to assess flood forecasts in any area.
• Emergency Preparedness Guidelines: The app offers guidance to civil and disaster management authorities to plan flood preparedness for citizens and their movable properties during flood events.
The development of this app has been done in-house by officials of Central Water Commission. Constructive feedbacks are welcome from one and all.
