À propos de l'application

A sheet of numbers, and not one of them sits still.

A refiner's terminal cut down to a watch face: seventy-odd digits floating on a dark navy ground under a fine woven screen, the date across the top, the time large on the right with the day's step count beneath it, the charge as a filling bar at the foot, and the day's steps as a ring round the rim.

Praise Kier!

THE SHEET - MACRO DATA REFINEMENT TERMINAL

Every digit drifts. A little, on its own, at its own rate and from its own starting point — and because no two of them agree about any of the three, the field reads as hovering rather than as shaking. Most barely move. A few travel a fifth of a cell.

An unseen cursor crosses the sheet on a twenty-second loop, and the digits it comes near swell: four sizes, brightening as they grow, largest and brightest directly under the point. The cursor itself is never drawn. The swelling is the only thing that says where it is.

The digits are set in the terminal's own lettering — squared bowls, one stroke weight, a slashed zero — drawn rather than borrowed from a font, so it is crisp at every size from the smallest dial to the largest.

THE READINGS

• the top — the weekday and the day of the month
• the clock — the hour and the minute, hung from the right so nothing shifts as the digits turn over
• under it — the day's steps
• the rim — those steps against the day's goal, twelve o'clock clockwise, one full turn at the goal and no further
• the foot — the charge, as a bar filling from the left with its own per cent set inside it, knocked out of the fill while there is fill enough to hold it and stepping aside onto the empty part when there is not

Nothing on the dial goes red, or any other colour, at any reading. The bar says what the charge is and says nothing about how it feels about it.

ALWAYS-ON

An AMOLED panel ages wherever it is lit, and a full screen of numbers is close to the worst thing a watch face can leave on one. So in always-on the ground goes, the sheet goes, the ring goes, the readings go, and the hour and minute are left alone on black in a dim ink — drifting a few pixels each minute so that no pixel carries a stroke for long.

NO SETTINGS

There is one dial and one layout. Every reading on it is fixed, so there is nothing to configure and no editor to open.

Requires Wear OS 5 or newer. No permissions: the time, the date, the charge and the step count are all read by the system on the face's behalf.
