Key to the Provincial Terrestrial and Wetland Ecosites of Ontario.
This is an interactive tool for people who want to quickly identify ecosites. It will be helpful to students and people interested in ecological research and monitoring. The tool allows the user to enter known information about Ontario ecosites (ES001 – ES188, and ES222 – ES224), and includes both wetland and terrestrial components.
The identification keys are not a traditional dichotomous key, but rather work by selecting features that describe the ecosite. Selections may add or remove additional questions. As you enter feature information the list of remaining possible ecosites are filtered. Eventually you are left with only one or two choices.
