Installation senior leaders, including command staff, key agencies, and unit commanders, must take measures to examine potential emergencies and disasters. As part of the Air Force Emergency Management (EM) Program, they are required to develop and implement activities to reduce the impact of these incidents on the installation and prepare for risks that cannot be eliminated. This includes emergency preparedness, incident management, response and recovery operations, and consequence management.
This digital version of the Air Force EM Program Senior Leader Guide is intended to familiarize and assist Air Force senior leaders with implementing the Air Force EM program at the installation level. This guide identifies how members of the installation and the Civil Engineer Squadron’s Readiness and Emergency Management Flight support the Air Force EM program across all levels of the installation.
This guide is presented in three sections. Section one is an overview of the Air Force EM program at the installation level. It also addresses the installation commander’s role and responsibilities for implementing the installation EM program. Section two explains the role of the installation’s Readiness and Emergency Management Flight. And section three includes information on senior leader roles and support requirements for the installation EM program.
