Document Reader - PDF Viewer brings PDFs, common Office documents, text files, media, and file-management tools into one private, on-device workspace. There is no account, advertising SDK, analytics service, cloud converter, or network permission in this release.

PDF READING THAT FEELS NATIVE

Open PDFs with AndroidX PDF for sharp page rendering, continuous navigation, pinch zoom, text selection, links, and in-document search. On devices with the required Android system extension, an annotation workspace can add ink and save an edited copy. Other supported Android 13+ devices retain the complete viewing and search experience.

LOCAL OFFICE AND TEXT SUPPORT

Read DOCX paragraphs and tables, browse XLSX workbooks as sheets and cells, and move through PPTX presentations slide by slide. ODT, ODS, ODP, RTF, TXT, CSV, and Markdown are handled locally too. Older DOC, XLS, and PPT files use clearly identified basic text recovery; complex desktop layouts, macros, and embedded objects are not reproduced.

FILES STAY UNDER YOUR CONTROL

Scan shared storage, filter by file type, search by name, sort results, inspect metadata, mark favorites, and revisit recent documents. Select multiple items for sharing or confirmed deletion. Images open with zoom controls, while local audio and video use Android playback. Android's Open with and Share flows can send supported files directly into the reader.

CREATE AND SHARE

Turn typed notes or up to 30 selected images into a local PDF. New files are saved in Documents/Atlas Reader and can be opened or shared immediately. Shared documents and APKs are prepared as bounded temporary cache copies and exposed to another app only through protected read-only URIs.

WHY ALL FILES ACCESS IS USED

MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE supports the app's primary whole-device file-manager function: finding, organizing, reading, sharing, and deleting user-selected documents and other files across shared-storage folders. MediaStore does not provide a complete inventory of Office documents, archives, downloads, and APKs, while the system file picker grants access only to separately selected locations.

WHY APK INSTALL ACCESS IS USED

REQUEST_INSTALL_PACKAGES is used only after the user taps an APK already stored on the device. The app does not download packages, update itself, or install silently. It stages a temporary copy and hands a read-only URI to Android's package installer, where the user controls source authorization and final confirmation.
