System Of A Down is a rock band from Glendale, California, United States. The four members of the band System of a Down are ethnic Armenian descendants. Tankian and Dolmayan were born in lebanon

Their songs are notable in addition to their innovative style, with a touch of Armenian music. [Citation needed] In addition the contents also contain ideas, views, and what they feel. Serj Tankian as a prominent member, exposes his political ideas in SOAD songs. Starting from the reconstruction campaign against Armenian Genocide by the Turkish government they continue to stretch, to socio-political issues such as consumerism, war, globalization, environment, and violence. In addition, they write songs about the changes or transformations of their thinking.

Kompas once wrote an article about this band with the title "Hard Band Anti Violence". Serj thinking is influenced by US left political observer Noam Chomsky. Serj Tankian and former Tom Morello guitarist Rage Against The Machine founded the Political NGO with the name Axis of Justice (the name of this NGO is a sarcastic play of one of the US President's speeches calling the 3 countries as Axis of Evil).
