About this app
The mission of Jal Dindi Pratisthan is to preserve our sacred rivers and to
culminate love and faith with health and environment.One of our projects is organizing Jal Dindi annually. Traveling on the waters of Rivers Indrayani and Bhima Jaldindi achieves confluence of Water and environmental preservation health and culture.Born in year 2002, it travels 450 kms over a period of 12 days every year, meeting more than a lakh people and touching many more through the media. This journey is only one of its kinds in India It travels planting trees, monitoring river water and drinking water wells along the banks, educating school children and masses about the impact of pollution on the river and their health, encouraging them to take to waters by teaching them Kayaking, Rowing and sailing, coaxing them to play alongside of nature to understand it better, conducting health camps and mixing all these with Culture and tradition. The Journey done on Kayaks, Rowing boats and Sailboats is full of adventure and fun and hence draws Youngsters. They are introduced to Riverine system first hand by practically being on the field. Introduction precedes friendship, love and preservation of river will become devotion for those who are to inherit it. Participants in Jaldindi are students, elderly, Scientists, Traditionalists, Environmentalists and Medical Specialists. In-fact it is a platform for anyone and everyone to contribute into and gain from. Knowledge and experience literally transdects all the divide. It dissolves the differences with the divine goal of conserving Riverine system and also
maintaining health.
One of our recent projects had been “Jal Maitri Yatra” from Temghar to Pune, 2006. Jal
Dindi Pratisthan along with College of Engineering Pune organized this rowing and
kayaking expedition from 29th December, 2006 – 1st January, 2007 for the cause of
cleaner rivers in Pune. This will now be an annual affair and will be organized ever year.
This event has been well covered by the media, particularly, the local news papers; The
Times of India and Indian express.
The basic approach is a positive outlook to various issues. The entire effort is to improve
and redeem the present situation rather than pointing fingers to the possible cause
