## encrypt-ease

**encrypt-ease** is a simple tool for protecting sensitive text using a passphrase. It lets you quickly encrypt messages before storing them or sharing them with someone else. Only someone with the same passphrase can decrypt the message and recover the original text.

The app is designed to be lightweight and easy to use. There are no accounts, no cloud services, and no hidden storage. Everything happens locally on your device.

### How it works

Using encrypt-ease only takes a few steps.

**1. Enter a passphrase**
Start by entering a passphrase in the passphrase field. This passphrase acts as the key that protects your message. Anyone who wants to read the encrypted text must use the same passphrase.

**2. Write your message**
Type or paste the text you want to protect into the plaintext box.

**3. Encrypt the message**
Press the **Encrypt →** button.
The app converts your text into encrypted ciphertext, which appears in the lower box.

The encrypted message begins with the prefix **KC1.** so it can be easily recognised as encrypted text produced by the app.

You can now copy this encrypted message and:

* store it safely
* send it to a friend
* include it in notes or documents
* paste it into email or messaging apps

Anyone who does not have the passphrase will only see unreadable ciphertext.

### Decrypting a message

To recover the original message:

1. Enter the **same passphrase** that was used to encrypt the text.
2. Paste the encrypted text (starting with **KC1.**) into the ciphertext box.
3. Press **← Decrypt**.

If the passphrase is correct, the original text will appear in the plaintext window.

If the passphrase is incorrect, the message cannot be recovered.

A desktop version of encrypt-ease is also available. Because the encryption format is the same across platforms, messages encrypted on one device can be decrypted on another as long as the same passphrase is used.

This allows you to easily move encrypted messages between your phone and computer using copy and paste.


### Important note

Always remember your passphrase. If the passphrase is lost, the encrypted message cannot be decrypted.
