About this app

Embarca is the boating navigation app for anyone heading out in a small boat: depth map, your mile limit drawn on the chart, SOS and dolphin sightings, so you come back feeling you navigated well.

COVERAGE
The detailed chart covers the whole Spanish coast: the Mediterranean mainland and the Strait of Gibraltar, the Balearic and Canary Islands, Huelva, Galicia, the Cantabrian coast and Melilla. Sighting zones come from protected areas and official studies; the guide to anchorages and boat ramps covers the Axarquía, the Costa Tropical and Sotogrande for now.

WORLDWIDE DEPTH, FREE
The map shows the depth of the whole world with shading and depth contours, and in Spain with the detailed chart: drop-off lines and soundings. In Navigate, an instrument gives you the chart depth under the boat. This is chart bathymetry, not a depth sounder: it does not replace sonar or official charts.

YOUR LIMIT, DRAWN ON THE MAP
If you sail with the Spanish Licencia de Navegación (entry-level boating licence), your limit is 2 nautical miles from a port or shelter, in daylight. The app draws it on the map and warns you as you get close. The chart of Spain ships inside the app and works at sea with no data.

WHERE THE DOLPHINS ARE
Dolphins and cetaceans across Spain. Sighting spots come from measuring on real bathymetry where the drop-off lies off each town. A wildlife guide with 24 species helps you tell them apart, and with "I saw…" you log what you spot with its position and the sea state.

WARN IF I DON'T ARRIVE, FREE
If you go out alone, set your return time and choose up to 3 contacts. If you are late and do not tap "I'm back", our server alerts them by SMS and email with your last position, even if your phone has run out of battery. With no coverage, the app stores your position and sends it as soon as the signal returns.

SOS, FREE FOR EVERYONE
A red button always in view. Slide it and your emergency contacts receive an SMS with your position and a link to follow you live. Embarca does not replace the emergency services: if there is danger, call 112, Spanish Maritime Rescue (900 202 202) or use VHF channel 16 first.

COMMUNITY ROUTES
Explore for free the routes other boaters publish near you, with their track, photos and sea state. With Pro, follow them in Navigate, save them for offline use and publish your own. Your mooring is never published: the first and last 300 m are trimmed.
