Dodi is an Arabic literacy game aiming at motivating children and to engage them to their learning. The pedagogical aspects, Gamification mechanics /dynamics and Human Computer Interaction concepts (HCI) have been taken into consideration while designing and developing the game.
The Gamification mechanics and dynamics such as (Achievements, Points, Badges, Bonuses, Leader Board, Combos … etc.) have been applied to engage children with the game and to create joyful learning environment that is full of challenges and competitions. Missions and tasks have been designed to achieve clear intended learning outcomes along with game challenges that children should accomplish during each level.
Missions will be precisely designed to make sure that they are not too easy nor too hard.
General Goals and Objectives
The proposed game will help children:
1- Pronounce letters and words properly.
2- Analyze words into syllables and letters.
3- Understand the meaning of words and short sentences.
4- Interpret simple essays and stories.
5- Read loudly with high level of accuracy and confidence.
6- Link between the acquired knowledge/skills and the real life situations.
Used Methods and Instructional Strategies
Generally, more than one method/strategy will be applied to convey the required knowledge and to deal with the diversity of (Nature of each skills, learning styles and age). Below are the method and strategies that are exist or will be added later (with each new level):
