Backlit: Glyph Matrix Toys

About this app

Backlit turns the Glyph Matrix on the back of your Nothing Phone into a set of small, useful and playful toys. Pick them in Glyph Toys, then press the Glyph Button to switch between them.

THE TOYS
• Clock: a smooth analog face, or a day ring that shows daylight and night around a 24-hour dial with sunrise and sunset worked out on your phone.
• Music: bars that dance to whatever your phone is playing (Phone (3)).
• Charge: your battery as a growing sprout, a filling buddy, a big number or the moon, with a plug-in animation and a "done" moment at the level you choose.
• Pet: a little ghost, frog, penguin, axolotl, owl or robot that lives on the back. Pet it, shake it, play peekaboo face-down. It gets bored if you ignore it and sleeps at night.
• Sand: a real hourglass. Flip the phone to start, flip mid-way to run the sand back, lay it on its side to pause. When time's up it asks you to flip it.
• Badge: leave a message for the people around you while the phone is face-down: IN A MEETING, BACK IN 5, DO NOT DISTURB, or your own, with a pixel icon.
• Canvas: shows your own drawings on the back.

STUDIO
Draw pictures and animations dot by dot in three shades, with lines, circles, fill, text, mirror and up to 24 frames. Use them on the Canvas, for charging, or for alerts. Import and share Glyph Museum files.

ALERTS
• Important contacts: give each one an animation that plays when they call, with a reminder after a missed call.
• Bluetooth devices: see an animation when your earbuds, watch or car connects.

PRIVATE BY DESIGN
No accounts, no ads, no analytics and no internet access. Everything stays on your phone. Every permission is optional and only used for the feature that asks for it.

SUPPORTED PHONES
• Nothing Phone (3): every toy, live and always-on.
• Nothing Phone (4a) Pro: the toys in always-on mode on its 13×13 matrix (no Music).
On other phones Backlit runs in preview mode, so you can try every screen.

Backlit is an independent app and is not affiliated with Nothing Technology.
