Your strategy starts before the first move.
ChessRox lets you choose your army and opening formation. Build within a shared 39-point budget and deploy pieces anywhere in your back three ranks. Even your king can start in a different square.
BUILD YOUR OWN ARMY
Choose pawns, knights, bishops, rooks and queens within your budget. Tap the board to deploy, recover pieces and move your king while refining your formation.
PLAY AI WITHOUT AN ACCOUNT
Practice with three difficulty levels. Save formations and resume your current AI game. The first launch and game-data download require an internet connection. After the offline game files are saved, AI play can be used offline.
CHALLENGE A FRIEND ONLINE
Sign in with Google and invite a friend using a room code. Both formations stay hidden until the game begins. Online play requires an internet connection and sign-in. Issued email accounts can also sign in.

Explore a dark fantasy atmosphere with realistic chess-piece artwork, distinct capture animations and piece-specific sound effects. Hear your knight's hooves and whinny, with separate music and effects controls.
