CodeMyContacts — Full App Description

OVERVIEW
--------
CodeMyContacts is an Android utility app built with Kotlin and Jetpack Compose. It audits
and cleans your phone's contact list, with a primary focus on ensuring every phone number
has a proper international country code. The app targets users who move between India (+91)
and Ireland (+353) and accumulate contacts in mixed formats over time.


THE PROBLEM IT SOLVES
---------------------
Phone contacts saved without a country code (e.g., 9876543210 instead of [phone])
break cross-border calling, WhatsApp matching, and other services that rely on the E.164
international format. This app scans, identifies, and bulk-fixes those numbers — safely,
with a review step before any change is written.


FEATURES
--------

1. Scan & Format Contacts
- Reads all contacts (or a filtered recent subset) and identifies numbers missing a
country code.
- Shows a review screen listing every proposed change before anything is written.
- Automatically classifies numbers as Indian or Irish by analyzing digit patterns
(length, leading digits).
- Ambiguous numbers — e.g., a 9-digit number starting with 8 that could be Irish —
are flagged and require the user to choose the country before proceeding.
- A configurable Default Country setting can silently resolve ambiguous numbers without
user input.
- Duplicate detection: if formatting a number would create an entry that already exists
in formatted form, that number is auto-skipped to avoid creating a duplicate.
- All changes are applied in one batch; the previous state is backed up so the entire
run can be undone in one tap.
- After applying, a shareable text report is generated listing every
"original → formatted" change.

2. Clean Duplicate Contacts
- Scans for contacts where the same underlying number exists in both a formatted
(+91 / +353) and an unformatted form.
- Presents a review list showing which entry will be deleted (the bare number) and
which will be kept (the formatted number).
- Deletes all confirmed duplicates in one operation.

3. Check Suspicious Numbers
- Flags numbers that are saved without a + prefix but cannot be identified as Indian
or Irish.
- Catches numbers that are too short (fewer than 7 digits), or simply in an
unrecognized format — useful for spotting typos or junk entries.

4. Contacts Without a Phone Number
- Lists every contact that has no phone number saved at all, so you can decide
whether to add a number or clean up the entry.

5. Home Dashboard
Displays five live stat cards on the home screen:
- Total Contacts
- Need Formatting (highlighted in red if > 0)
- Duplicates Found (highlighted in red if > 0)
- Already Formatted
- No Phone Number (highlighted in red if > 0)

6. Background Watcher
- An optional periodic task (powered by WorkManager) that runs every 6 hours.
- If it finds any contacts lacking a country code, it posts a notification prompting
the user to open the app and fix them.
- Can be enabled or disabled at any time from Settings.

7. History
- A log of every formatting session showing the date, how many numbers were updated,
how many were skipped, and whether the session was an undo.
- History can be cleared from the History screen.

8. Settings
- Default country for ambiguous numbers: Always Ask / Auto-assign India /
Auto-assign Ireland.
- Scan filter: Scan all contacts, or only contacts modified in the last 7 or 30 days.
- Background watcher toggle: Enable or disable the periodic 6-hour background check.
