Reads what they sent. Writes what you’d say.
The two places a chat in another language gets stuck: reading and replying. Tap a message to see it in English. Type what you want to say, and the reply comes out in their language, written to fit the conversation.
Write for me — When you don’t know what to say, it writes the reply.
Opening a chat, closing one, answering “how have you been?” in a language you’re still learning. Say what you want to say in English, and Dotok writes a reply that fits the conversation, in their language.
• Just say what you want
• Greetings that fit their culture
• See it in English before you send
You always send. Dotok only places the sentence you tap [Insert] into the input field.
In context — The same words mean different things after different messages.
Dotok reads up to six earlier messages along with the one it translates. It knows who was talking about what, so the result differs from a translation of the sentence alone.
One line of meaning — When the translation is right but the meaning isn’t, you get one more line.
Some phrases read differently in their own culture — “we’ll give it positive consideration” is usually a polite no. Only those get a one-line note. Most messages come back as translation alone.
Get started — Three steps.
1. Install and read the notice: Dotok first shows you what it reads, when, and where it sends it. It starts reading only after you agree.
2. Turn on two permissions: Display over other apps — To show the button and the Dotok panel. Accessibility service — To read the chat on screen and put the sentence you tap [Insert] into the input field. Only WhatsApp, WhatsApp Business and KakaoTalk are read.
3. Tap the button in a chat: Open WhatsApp or KakaoTalk and the button appears. Tap it and the Dotok panel opens. Close the panel and reading stops.
Anytime: Settings → Accessibility → turn off Dotok, and it stops immediately.
Privacy — What stays, and what doesn’t.
• Your conversations don’t stay on our server
• Translation is done by OpenAI models
• Only the message you tap and up to six before it are sent
• Your phone keeps only the last 500 translations
