FilMode is a free video editor and video maker for Android, built around a real multi-track timeline instead of a wizard. Drop in your clips, cut to the frame, stack text, music and voice on their own tracks, then export a clean MP4 up to 4K. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is watermarked, and you never create an account.

EDITS OFFLINE
The editor runs entirely on your phone: it works in airplane mode, and your footage never leaves the device.
A TIMELINE THAT BEHAVES LIKE ONE

• Pinch to zoom; magnetic snapping with haptic feedback

SLOW MOTION AND SPEED RAMPS
Hold a constant 0.25x to 4x, or draw a Bezier speed curve that eases in and back out. Freeze a frame and hold it. Pitch lock is on by default, so a slowed voice stays a voice.
TRANSITIONS THAT REALLY OVERLAP
Dissolve, fade to black or white, slide, zoom, wipe and blur swap — rendered on the GPU with the two clips genuinely overlapping and the audio cross-fading too, not an opacity dip pretending to be a transition.
KEYFRAME ANIMATION
Animate position, scale, rotation, opacity and volume, with easing. Split an animated clip and the animation survives the cut instead of resetting.
TEXT, TITLES AND CAPTIONS
Type size is measured against the project frame, so a caption looks identical in a 720p draft, in the 4K export, and on a friend's phone.
NARRATION FROM YOUR SCRIPT
Paste a script, pick a voice and set its pitch and speed — text to speech lays the narration onto the timeline as an ordinary audio clip you can move, trim and fade. No microphone involved: FilMode does not record audio.
FILTERS, LUTS AND COLOUR
Filters, LUTs, brightness, contrast, saturation and warmth — every slider previews live while you drag it.
MUSIC AND AUDIO
Background music, per-clip volume, fade in and fade out, and automatic cross-fades that ride along with every visual transition.
STICKERS, PICTURE IN PICTURE, PHOTO MOTION
Layer stickers and picture-in-picture video with blend modes and opacity. Still photos get a Ken Burns move so a slideshow never sits flat.
SIX TEMPLATES INCLUDED
Pick a template, drop your clips into the slots, and the cuts, captions and music are already timed. A finished short in about a minute — then change anything you like.
QUICK ON ORDINARY PHONES
Importing builds a 960p proxy so scrubbing stays smooth, while every export goes back to your original footage and runs through the phone's own hardware encoder.

PERMISSIONS: ONE, ON OLD ANDROID ONLY
FilMode asks for one permission, on Android 7–9 only: storage, when you save a finished video to your Gallery. Say no and the export still succeeds. Android 10 and later ask nothing. Clips arrive through the system photo picker, so the app never reads your whole gallery. Editing uses the network only for anonymous usage and crash diagnostics — turn that off in the Me tab and it stops. The one exception is the reward video: a non-personalised Unity ad, using the advertising ID only to cap repeats. No location, no contacts, no microphone.
