About this app

FocusEdge is a study mode and app lock for parents who hand their own phone to their child for homework. Turn on Study Mode and only the study apps and websites you choose will open. Games, YouTube, Instagram, WhatsApp and UPI stay locked until you enter your PIN.

FocusEdge is free during early access.

STUDY MODE: ONE SWITCH, THEN HAND OVER THE PHONE
• Only the study apps you choose open, such as Google Classroom, Khan Academy, Duolingo, Photomath or DIKSHA
• Only the study websites you choose open, such as NCERT, DIKSHA, Khan Academy or Wikipedia. Add any website from Chrome's share button.
• Google search stays open, with safe results only
• Games, YouTube, Instagram, Facebook and other social media stay locked

APP LOCK FOR YOUR OWN PHONE
Your phone has your chats, photos and money on it. While your child studies, WhatsApp, your photos, UPI and payment apps, your bank and Settings stay locked behind your 6-digit PIN. The notification panel stays closed, so your messages stay private.

ADULT WEBSITE BLOCKER, ALWAYS ON
Adult, gambling and betting (including fantasy sports), violent and dating websites stay blocked at all times in Chrome, Samsung Internet, Firefox, Edge and Brave, even when Study Mode is off and the phone is picked up without asking. Google search shows safe results only.

SIMPLE PARENTAL CONTROL FOR A SHARED PHONE
FocusEdge goes on your own phone, the one your child borrows. There is no second app to install and no child account to set up. Think of it as a kids mode for homework time.

SET UP IN A FEW MINUTES
1. Sign in with Google or your email
2. Tick the study apps and websites (we suggest the ones on your phone)
3. Choose a 6-digit PIN
4. Allow three permissions, with every step shown on screen
Tested on Samsung, Xiaomi, Redmi, Motorola and OnePlus phones, and made for other Android phones too.

We email you a code to reset it.

YOUR PRIVACY
Everything is checked on your phone. What your child opens, types or browses is never recorded or sent anywhere. FocusEdge does not read your messages, photos or anything inside an app.

ACCESSIBILITYSERVICE API DATA DISCLOSURE
FocusEdge collects app names, website URLs and search queries using the AccessibilityService API to enable Study Mode and web protection, even when running in background.
• App names → lock apps outside your study list during Study Mode
• Website URLs → allow only your study websites during Study Mode, and block adult websites at all times
• Search queries → keep safe search on and block explicit searches
• Which screen is open → close the notification panel and Date & Time settings during Study Mode
Checked on your phone only. Never sent to FocusEdge, shared or sold.

OTHER PERMISSIONS
• Display over other apps: to show the block screen over a locked app.
• Battery: so your phone doesn't switch FocusEdge off in the middle of homework.
