Fend encrypts your device's DNS queries and answers known ad and tracker domains on the device itself. We run no servers and you create no account; your queries never reach us.
ENCRYPTED DNS
Your queries are encrypted with DNS over HTTPS. You pick the resolver: Cloudflare (1.1.1.1), Google, Quad9, AdGuard, Yandex — or your own secure DNS address. Fend measures how fast each one answers, so you can see which is quickest where you are.
ADS STOP ON THE DEVICE
More than 79,000 ad and tracker domains ship inside the app. Requests to them are answered on your phone and never reach the network at all. Pages load with fewer requests, and an ad that is never downloaded is data you never spend.
YOU CAN SEE WHAT YOU SAVED
Daily and monthly usage, the number of blocked requests and an estimated saving, all on one screen. A seven-day chart shows the trend, and a home screen widget keeps today's number in front of you.
FAST AND LIGHT
Everything happens on the device. Your traffic is not relayed through a remote server: only DNS is encrypted, and everything else reaches its destination exactly as it does now. The app is small and does no background work of its own.
PRIVACY BY DEFAULT
No account, no analytics, no crash reporting. Your settings and counters stay on this device and are deleted with the app.
ABOUT THE PERMISSION
The only way to read a device's DNS queries is Android's VPN service, so Android asks your permission the first time you connect and shows a key icon in the status bar while Fend is on. Fend uses it for those queries and nothing else.
PREMIUM
A monthly or yearly subscription removes the ad and unlocks the exceptions list: if blocking breaks a site or an app, add that domain to the list and fix it yourself.
The free version shows a single ad at the bottom of the statistics screen. Google serves it and collects an advertising ID for it; that is not data Fend itself collects. The privacy policy explains exactly what this means.
OPEN SOURCE
Fend is based on Intra, the open-source project by Jigsaw, used under the Apache License 2.0. The blocklist is compiled from StevenBlack/hosts, used under the MIT License.
