Jeecei is a shared map that lasts exactly as long as your outing.
You need at least two people: an outing starts face to face, each person with the app on their phone. On your own, you will only see an empty map.
One person starts a session, everyone else scans the QR code, and the whole group appears on the same map for six hours. When time is up the session closes by itself and everything disappears. No account to create, no phone number to hand over, no ads.
▸ WHEN YOU NEED IT
A festival, a theme park, a Christmas market, a ski resort, a crowded city you don't know. Anywhere the group splits up and "where are you?" gets asked all day: Glastonbury, Coachella, Disneyland, Oktoberfest, a county fair, a shopping centre on a Saturday.
▸ WHAT IT DOES
• The group map: everyone shows up with their face, their last position, when they were last seen, and how much battery they have left.
• "Everyone OK?": the question buzzes every phone in the group, and each person answers with one tap. No keyboard, no thread to keep up with.
• A meeting point: drop it on the map and it reaches everyone, with distance and direction.
• An arrow pointing at the person you're looking for, for when the map isn't enough.
• An alert button that tells the whole group where you are.
• A warning when someone's battery hits 20%, then 10%, then 5%: before they drop off the map, not after.
• Answer straight from the lock screen, without opening the app.
▸ WE CANNOT READ YOUR LOCATIONS
This isn't a promise, it's how it is built. The encryption key travels from phone to phone through the QR code, face to face: it never passes through our servers. What reaches us is an unreadable block tied to a random identifier that dies with the session. With no accounts, there is nothing to cross-reference, nothing to sell, and nothing to hand over if we are asked for it.
▸ WHAT IT DOES NOT DO
This list matters as much as the one above.
• It does not call emergency services. The alert button warns your group. The app shows the emergency number next to it, but never dials for you.
• It does not work without a network. No fallback messaging, no Bluetooth: with no mobile data, nobody can see you.
• It keeps no history. A finished outing cannot be looked up anywhere, including by you.
• It does not follow you between sessions. Nothing is broadcast until someone starts, and nothing at all once it's over.
▸ BATTERY
GPS shuts down as soon as nobody is looking. Over a ten-hour outing, measured on a real phone, the app costs about 2% of the battery.
▸ WHERE WE ARE
"Group outing" is the mode you are installing today. Two more are being written, "My teen" and "Perimeter": they appear in the app, marked as unavailable. We would rather say so than let you assume otherwise.
Jeecei is pronounced "JC". Some people write it "jeesai": same app.
