About this app

Layergram adds a private encryption layer to the messaging and social apps you already use. Write a message in Layergram, encrypt it entirely on your device, and share the resulting payload through WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, iMessage, email, social networks or any other compatible text channel.

Layergram does not operate messaging servers, create a new social network or store your conversations in the cloud. Your contacts, cryptographic identities, keys and message history remain under your control.

HYBRID POST-QUANTUM PROTECTION

Layergram 2.0 activates protocol v3, combining X25519 with ML-KEM-768. The hybrid handshake, forward secrecy and periodic post-quantum ratcheting are designed to protect present conversations against both conventional attacks and future “harvest now, decrypt later” threats. Protocol v3 does not silently fall back to classical-only encryption.

THREE WAYS TO SHARE

• Direct encrypted text for broad compatibility.
• Deep links for quick opening in Layergram.
• Zero-width Unicode steganography that can conceal an encrypted payload inside ordinary-looking cover text.

Messages are transported by the app you choose. Layergram is designed to tolerate delayed, duplicated, reordered or missing carrier messages without relying on a Layergram server.

IDENTITY AND FORWARD SECRECY

Share your complete public identity as text, a deep link or one static branded QR code. Choose Normal forward secrecy for practical use across several devices, or Maximum forward secrecy to bind a conversation to exactly two devices.

Your 24-word recovery phrase stays with you. An optional passphrase derives a separate identity and encrypted keyspace, providing practical plausible deniability within the documented limits. The recovery phrase and passphrase must never be shared with a contact.

PREMIUM FEATURES

• Multiple selectable identities.
• Client-side encrypted backup and restore through the supported provider for your platform: iCloud, Google Drive or OneDrive, plus Dropbox.
• Custom chat folders.
• Cover-message generation on supported devices.
• A secure in-app touch keyboard with multilingual layouts and optional key scrambling.

MORE PRIVACY CONTROLS

• Biometric app lock with PIN fallback.
• Secure local storage and optional screen protection.
• Self-destructing and delete-after-read messages.
• Per-contact exclusion from official backups and exports.
• Encrypted local conversation history with search, pin and delete controls.
• 42 interface languages.

Layergram’s protocol design and open-source core can be inspected publicly. No communication tool can protect a compromised device or prevent a recipient from copying content, so keep your operating system secure and verify important contact fingerprints through an independent channel.
Post-quantum private messaging through the apps you already use. No servers.

What’s new

Layergram 2.0.1 completes the transition to Protocol v3.
Upgrading from v2: migration preserves your existing 24-word recovery phrase and optional passphrase while generating new v3 keys. You must share your new public identity and reverify your contacts.
Opening identity, and buttons Copy and Share are reliable again.
Layergram continues to work locally, with no Layergram account or mandatory server.
