Layergram is not another messenger. It is a privacy layer for the apps you already use: WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, iMessage, email, social networks, forums, and any text-based channel that preserves enough text.
Write two messages: a normal cover message that everyone can see, and a secret message that only the intended Layergram recipient can decrypt.
Layergram encrypts locally, then embeds the encrypted payload into the visible text using zero-width Unicode characters. If a channel does not preserve invisible characters, Layergram can use direct text or link mode instead.
Your keys stay on your device. Layergram has no Layergram account, no delivery server, no message database, and no backend that can read your conversations. The core protocol is open for review and uses well-known cryptographic primitives such as X25519, HKDF-SHA256, and AES-GCM-256.
Layergram includes Forward Secrecy for compatible conversations. New contacts can upgrade opportunistically as normal Layergram messages are exchanged, while Maximum Forward Secrecy can require a strict device-bound session before user-authored content is sent. No Layergram server or background connection is required: the upgrade travels through the same apps you already use.
Use Layergram for the messages that deserve more than ordinary privacy: personal notes, private plans, sensitive links, recovery details, business context, or any conversation where the channel should carry the message without owning the contents.
Core features:
• Send encrypted messages through WhatsApp, Telegram, Signal, iMessage, email, and more
• Hide encrypted content inside ordinary-looking cover text, with direct text/link fallback
• Local keys, local encryption, and local chat history
• Forward Secrecy support for compatible contacts
• Optional passphrase-derived identities for separated contexts
• App lock, biometric/PIN access, and screen protection where supported
• Self-destructing messages and backup-exclusion controls
• Open-source core protocol and cryptography
• Available in 42 languages
Layergram Premium is a one-time unlock handled by your store account. It adds convenience features and supports continued development; core privacy features remain available without Premium.
Premium adds:
• Natural cover-message generation on supported devices, designed to use visible cover context without reading your secret message
• An in-app keyboard for secret drafts, including an optional scrambled layout
• Custom chat folders
• Multiple saved local identities, with separate messages and contacts
• Encrypted backup and restore protected by a separate 24-word backup phrase; backup storage receives only encrypted backup data
Layergram is honest about its limits. It protects message content, not the metadata exposed by the app you use to send it. A motivated analyst may detect hidden Unicode characters, but cannot read the encrypted content without the right keys. It also cannot protect a device that is already compromised.
Layergram is independent and is not affiliated with the messaging services named here.
