About this app

Legentibus is a language learning app and a library carefully curated for anyone interested in the Latin language. The unique combination of Latin texts with synchronized audio gives you an unsurpassed learning experience. Dive into our growing collection, from beginner stories to works by classical authors such as Cicero or Tacitus.

Download books and audiobooks to your device to listen and read offline wherever you are.

Legentibus contains plenty of materials for learning, studying, or simply enjoying Latin:

· Stories for beginners
· Textbooks and readers such as Familia Romana and Ritchie’s Fabulae Faciles
· Roman myths and history
· Latin literature by authors such as Caesar, Cicero, Sallust, and Erasmus.
· And more

New titles are added continually, and a regularly updated reading plan is also available.

All books come not just with Latin audio, but also with additional help. Depending on the book, different features are available, such as:

· English translations or interlinear translations
· Glossaries with English definitions
· Grammatical notes
· Commentaries
· Macrons for all texts
· Dark/light mode

Our illustrated Beginner Stories are written in simple language with a unique vocabulary count of 100 to 200 words with additional features:
· Audio
· Translation
· Commentary
They are all grounded in history or literature– in classical myths, fables, medieval stories, or historical events, e.g.:

· The Knight and the Magician (medieval)
· Phrixus and Helle (classical)
· Orpheus and Eurydice (classical)
· The Strange Death of Milo (classical)
· A Dangerous Journey (classical)
· The Statue and the Treasure (medieval)

That way, you will learn more than the language itself. We go to great lengths to ensure that the vocabulary and syntax is attested in Roman literature.

We believe that stories are key to learning Latin efficiently while simultaneously having a good time – which in turn enhances your learning.

Legentibus was created for:
· Complete beginners to advanced Latin learners
· Autodidacts and enthusiasts
· Students and researchers
· Latin speakers who want to improve their skills

With an easy-to-use interface, learning is natural and stress-free. In addition, a curated library with a reading plan facilitates long-term success.

We constantly add resources and make improvements.

For a long time, people learned Latin by memorizing declension and conjugation tables, lists of words, and analyzing and translating complex sentences without much context. But Latin is a language, not a puzzle.

It is essential to experience Latin as a language: a medium for communicating something, be it philosophy, history, or a simple story. The only way to achieve true reading fluency in Latin is to listen and read as much Latin as possible from the start.

We made this app to help Latin learners achieve their goals, no matter how varied they might be.

You can do all the listening, reading, and understanding you need in one place, in Legentibus.

Using Legentibus is easy: create an account and choose a subscription plan.

A Lil expensive, but there are plenty of good texts ( they are somewhat short) the reader are really good and have good and clear pronunciation. I enjoy this app and use it a lot so it's worth the cost to me. Only complaint is I started with month to month subscription and I'm trying to figure out how to switch to a yearly subscription, but I can't find an easy way without losing the remaining time on my current sub.

I'm still amazed at the amount of content available on this app. Issues: Can't listen when the screen is off for read-along, which would be so nice; a listen-only version for LLPSI etc in-app for the car. Tapping the screen often brings up the vocab page because there are often vocab words under your finger, but theyre not highlighted by default, so it can be annoying. No menu unless you long tap, or is it double tap? Tricky to navigate. Auto page turn is off by default, need to go to menu.

I love this app! The UI is beautiful, and the concept for learning Latin is solid. I have only one issue: would it be possible to include the option of purchasing individual books/recordings rather than paying for the subscription? Not because the price is unreasonable, but because it would at least allow users access to some content so they can decide from there whether they want to subscribe or not. Multas gratias tibi ago, sodale! ⚔️

Thank you! Regarding the purchasing of individual books, we decided against it in the app, because we felt that if a user bought a book they should be able to use it even outside the app. We will however be selling individual books on our store at Latinitium later.
